Born in Benin City on April 23, 1981, Ufuoma Stacey McDermot, formerly known as Ufuoma Mcdermott, is a Nigerian actress of Urhobo ethnicity. The gifted actress’s parents are both members of the Ewu Clan from the Ughelli South local government area of Delta State. Ufuoma spent her early years in Benin City, where she was born, before migrating to Jos and then Lagos, where she currently resides. At age seven, her father gave her the Urhobo nickname “Isio,” which means “star.” The moniker star was drawn from the star actress of the NTA Benin-produced TELEFEST production, The Pot of Life. Due to numerous environmental changes, the soon-to-be-famous actress attended three schools for her early schooling.

The gifted actress made her film debut in 2004’s The President Must Not Die, directed by Zeb Ejiro. Since then, the remarkable actress has been in numerous additional films, including Edge of Paradise, Life and Death, Honey Desire, Hear Word, Okoro the Prince, and Wives on Strike, to name a few. Ufuoma married American Steven McDermott on the exact date of her birthday (April 23, 2010). They have been married for almost a decade and are the proud parents of two children, a boy and a girl (Isio is the boy and Kes is the girl).
