Nigerian alternative musician, songwriter, producer, and sound engineer John Ighodaro, better known by his stage name Johnny Drilled, was born on July 5, 1990. In 2006, he started teaching himself how to make music, and in 2012, he started making music professionally. Mavin Records has a contract with Johnny Drilled.

Early Life, Childhood and Education
Johnny Drille was raised in Edo State, Nigeria, where he was born on July 5, 1990. His father is a minister and the head of a school. He has four siblings total. Young Drille started singing in his father’s church. With his siblings, Johnny started singing in church at a young age.
He began singing in the children’s choir and playing the keyboard in 2001. He also became a member of the “Soul Awakening Signers,” singing alongside his sister and other well-known individuals. He started using a cassette recorder to train himself music creation in 2006.
In Benin’s finest public schools, Johnny Drille completed his primary and senior education. He continued his schooling after that and graduated from the University of Benin with a degree in English and literature.
Johnny Drille earned a Bachelor of Science in English and Literature from the University of Benin in 2012. His father’s church served as the foundation for his early musical career. He made the decision to focus on music production in 2006 and used cassette recorders to teach himself the essential skills.
He faced his fair share of obstacles; it was not an easy climb. Johnny participated in the sixth MTN Project Fame season in 2013, placing tenth overall. Despite having a modest fan base, his career did not end once he was eliminated from Project Fame; he continued to record and distribute music.
After recording a cover of Di’ja’s “Awww,” Drille’s life transformed. He acquired a lot of fans thanks to his “Awww” cover, which also attracted Don Jazzy, the head of Mavin, like a magnet. Using the same drive, he released and promoted his single “Love Do Not Lie” in June 2013. On August 12, 2015, Johnn Drille released “Wait for Me,” and it instantly gained popularity.
Driller acknowledges that he had experimented with other musical genres before discovering folk music, such as highlife, hip-hop, and even afro-pop. However, until he discovered the music of the American folk band Mumford & Sons—a rock band from the United States, “I will wait for the singers”—and worked out a method to stand out, none of these were successful.
Mavin Records made the announcement that Johnny Drille and the name had come to an agreement on February 28, 2017. Then, to share his experience with the challengers of season 6, he made a special appearance as a celebrity on Project Fame. He urged the contestants to show off their skills as much as they could on the MTN Project Fame stage.
