How to start a profitable poultry farming explained
To start a poultry farm, certain steps must be taken and facilities must be acquired to ensure a safe and profitable business.
First and foremost, the necessary step when considering to start a poultry farm is to acquire the knowledge of Poultry birds.

These are male chickens bred and raised for the purpose of their meat and feathers. They take a longer time to reach market size or slaughter weight of 5-6 months.
Another step or factor that needs to considered in setting up a poultry farm is a good location and shelter for the birds. A land needs to be acquired and this depends on the amount of birds that will be bred. Also, location must be a safe place for the birds to avoid thief and attacks from dangerous animals (predators) such as snakes and wild cats.
Shelter must be well spaced and ventilated to allow free flow of air which reduces fast spread of diseases among birds, it must be well guarded to prevent intruders. Depending on the type of birds to be raised and their number, there are two types of poultry system.
Deep litter system:
This is an animal housing system, based on the repeated spreading of straw or sawdust material in indoor booths. An initial layer of litter is spread for the animals to use for bedding material and to defecate in, and as the litter is soiled, new layers of litter are continuously added by the farmer.
This is a housing system that involves the use of battery cages used for animal production methods, but primarily for egg – laying hens. The cages arrangements of rows and columns of identical cages connected together, in a unit.
Lastly, in the factors required, once the above discussed factors are put in place, then some poultry farming equipment can be purchased such as feeders, drinkers, perches, lighting system, heaters or brooders, then poultry birds are purchased.
